Passionate and creative, dedicated and responsive, Florence Baquiast has extensive experience working at international level. She can, therefore, easily adjust to any corner of the world and, in her work, she has demonstrated a great capacity to adapt to logistical constraints that can differ according to the scale of the projects, whether they have big or small budgets.
Her expertise enables her to intervene throughout or at certain stages of the creation chain, as needed. She is, therefore, in turn, Costume and Accessory Designer, Project Manager, Production Manager and Onsite Coordinator.
Project Manager
Guarantee the feasibility of the project in all areas.
Approach
. Accompany and assist the directors in developing the concepts in close collaboration with the teams already in place.
. Manage and coordinate projects at all stages (concept, feasibility and implementation).
. Be methodical, structured and results orientated with a strong sense of organization.
. Work with the Producer and suggest solutions to optimize the budget and deadlines.
Tasks
. Analyze the feasibility and management of the implementation.
. Define specifications by listing the requirements.
. Establishment of bid and follow-up.
. Manage priorities to optimize results.
. Prepare and manage the budget.
. Control costume production costs according to themes, performers, technical needs and the budget allocated to each.
. Assess quantities for each theme for costume production.
. Prepare and manage the schedule: set priorities, purchasing and delivery, from the development and production of the costumes up to their delivery on site.
. Source suppliers: fabrics and accessories.
. Recruit collaborators: workshops and technicians based on the techniques needed for the costumes.
. Purchase materials and accessories: negotiate with suppliers and provide administrative follow-up related to the techniques needed for the costumes.
. Ensure the good management of the projects for which I am responsible (planning, dashboard, risk management and opportunities.

Head of Production
Being involved in the entire production process.
Approach
. Ensure the good management of the projects for which I am responsible (planning, dashboard, risk management and opportunities.
. Work closely with the Producer on the budget and with the performers for optimal completion of costumes.
. Set priorities and maintain deadlines.
. Adapt the costume to the technical requirements needed, whilst meeting safety standards and allowing the artists to perform their numbers to the full.
Tasks
. Analyse technical questions by finding solutions to optimize production (pattern making, prototypes and series).
. Establish cost sheets: pattern making and cutting to develop a good prototype.
. Establish a scale of sizes: Performers’ measurements.
. Determine needs: amount of fabrics and quantity of accessories for each design.
. Manage the equipment and stocks.
. Locate and set up flying workshops in the countries in question which bring together competent and effective teams suitable for project requirements and for the allocated budget.
. Coordinate existing workshops.
. Adapt manufacturing techniques according to identified skills.
. Oversee quality control.
. Finalise costumes: fittings for performers to check the fit.
.Find solutions for production problems: quality defects, delivery delays, and changes of subject or performer.

Costumes Designer
Working closely with the Artistic Director.
Approach
. Understand the Art Director’s vision so as to have a comprehensive view of the project and so develop themes and trends.
.Submit a vision board brimming with materials and colours.
. Write technical files so as to have a quick response at the start of production.
Tasks
. Exclusive creation of drawings and prints using all kinds of techniques: screen printing, transfer, sublimation printing, hand painting, embroidery, appliqué...
. Work with all kinds of materials for accessories: leather, spandex, cotton, metal, wood, plastazote, polystyrene, carbon fibre ...

Onsite Coordinator

. Prepare the schedule by organizing and optimizing the costume workshop.
. Prepare the fittings schedule.
. Manage the team for last minute alterations.
. Coordinate and schedule the transfer of materials and teams for performances.
. Plan the allocation of costumes and accessories to the dressing rooms according to the show’s timing and the artists’ performances.
